Conventional wisdom suggests that Kevin Durant’s time with the Phoenix Suns is coming to an end.

After another troubled season, many people expect the 15-time All-Star to head to a different team this summer.

But that may not be the case, according to new reporting from Logan Murdock.

“The book isn’t closed on Durant returning to the Suns next season.  League sources suggest that Durant, who will be eligible for a two-year, $122 million extension this offseason, would be open to a return. Booker says he’d be excited to continue playing with his idol,” Murdock wrote, per NBACentral.

Durant is averaging 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists on 52.7 percent from the field this season, so the Suns would love to keep him and his kind of output.

With that being said, re-signing him would cost them a lot of money, and there is a chance that it doesn’t make the team any better.

Rumors have said the Suns and Durant are ready to cut ties and head in different directions.

If they went down that road, Phoenix could get a big return for Durant, considering he is still one of the biggest names in the game.

But this new report says that Durant might stick around, which could keep him and Devin Booker together.

If that happened, the Suns would have to get creative with their other contracts unless they were content to keep the same roster next year.

That roster hasn’t led them to the sort of success they want, so most fans believe that something has to change.

Losing Durant would hurt, but keeping him could complicate matters.

The Suns and Durant will have to think long and hard this summer before they announce their next steps.
