In a season full of painful moments, the loss of Anthony Davis has been one of the worst for the Dallas Mavericks.

Thankfully, Davis could be on his way back to the team soon.

According to NBACentral, the Mavericks have assigned Davis to the Texas Legends of the G-League.

That means he is ramping up his on-court activities and might be with the Mavericks in the near future.

But is it too late for the team this year?

Dallas had high hopes for Davis when he joined the team after the massive Luka Doncic trade.

But he only played in one game with the Mavericks, walking off the court after 31 minutes due to an injury.

During that time, he posted 26 points, 16 rebounds, and seven assists.

Davis was looking great during his short time with the Mavericks and gave fans reason to think that maybe the future could be bright without Doncic.

Since he went down at the start of February, a number of other injuries have destroyed the Mavericks.

They are currently the 10th team in the Western Conference with a 33-36 record.

That means that Davis could return right before the team battles in the play-in tournament, hoping to earn a spot in the postseason.

Because of the numerous injuries that have run up and down the roster, the Mavericks’ chances of postseason success have dwindled but having Davis back would help them a lot.

But would he help them enough?

For the season, Davis has averaged 25.7 points and 12.0 rebounds.

Mavericks fans will get a better idea of when Davis might be back after he spends some time with the G-League.
